Bayern Munich booked their place in the Champions League next
season with victory over Stuttgart but the result was not enough
for the defending champions to catch Wolfsburg, who were crowned
German champions today.
An own goal from Khalid Boulahrouz put Bayern ahead in the 16th
minute before Mark van Bommel doubled their advantage after an hour.
Mario Gomez gave Stuttgart hope three minutes later but they did
not need the point anyway as Hertha Berlin's defeat at Karlsruhe
ensured they finished third in the table behind Bayern to take their
place in the Champions League qualifiers.
