Real Madrid trimmed Barcelona's lead at the summit back to 12 points
after seeing off Deportivo La Coruna with a 1-0 win, but the entertainment
that has become commonplace at the Nou Camp this season was sorely
lacking at the Bernabeu.
Raul struck the only goal of a largely drab encounter just before
the break as Madrid gained revenge for their 2-1 defeat in La Coruna
on the opening day of the season.
The victory was the sixth win in seven competitive games since
Juande Ramos replaced Bernd Schuster as coach and also means second-placed
Madrid have now opened up a three-point gap over Sevilla in third
spot.
