Barcelona ended the most successful season in their history with
a 1-1 draw at Deportivo La Coruna in the last round of the Primera
Division.
The Catalans added the Champions League title to the domestic league
and cup double they had already secured to complete an amazing treble
on Wednesday night, when they brushed aside Manchester United with
a brilliant exhibition of attacking football.
Samuel Eto'o put Pep Guardiola's side in front on Wednesday and
rescued a point for the Catalans with a last-minute strike in this
match after Rodolfo Bodipo had given the home side the lead on the
half-hour mark.
Having completed their historic treble on Wednesday, Guardiola
looked certain to rest a host of first-team players for this match.
But it was a surprisingly strong Barcelona line-up that began at
Riazor, with Eto'o, Xavi, Gerard Pique, Yaya Toure, Sylvinho and
Eric Abidal all starting.
Eidur Gudjohnsen and Aleksander Hleb came in for rare starts as
Barca switched to a more orthodox 4-4-2 line-up, with the former
Arsenal midfielder just behind Eto'o and Bojan Krkic.
Eto'o was in the running for the `Pichichi' award for the league's
top scorer, but began the day two goals behind Atletico Madrid striker
Diego Forlan.
