Fernando Torres scored two exceptional first-half goals to keep
Liverpool in the title hunt with a 4-0 victory at home to Blackburn.
His first was after only five minutes, a stunning hooked volley
past Paul Robinson before heading in for his 14th goal of the season.
Blackburn offered little as an attacking force, and defender Daniel
Agger was able to fire in the third from 20 yards with seven minutes
left, substitute David Ngog heading the fourth with a minute of
normal time to go.
Ultimately, Rafael Benitez's gut reaction was right, his side were
more than good enough succeed without Steven Gerrard.
